Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach Western Colorado University invites applications for the position of Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach.
The position of Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach will report directly to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach and will assist with organizing and conducting practices and conditioning sessions. Assist with the coordination of the distribution, collection, and storage of athletic equipment, gear and supplies (during the season and at its conclusion) and the collection of fees for lost equipment and gear by student-athletes. This position also recruits student-athletes while meeting University policy and NCAA Division II regulations. Works closely with the Head Coach to this end. In consultation with the Director of Athletics, Compliance Coordinator, and Head Coach, assures that student-athletes are eligible to participate in athletics according to university and NCAA Division II regulations. Demonstrates concern for the academic, physical and emotional well-being of each team member by actively encouraging and supporting the academic success of team members. This includes encouraging or ensuring regular class attendance, monitoring grades and working to minimize conflicts between athletic and academic responsibilities. Actively encourages and supports the psychological and emotional well-being of team members, provides appropriate mentoring and life guidance, and seeks professional assistance when circumstances warrant. The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach has knowledge of and stays in compliance with Western Colorado University, NCAA Division II, RMAC and NCAA rules and regulations. Adheres to budget, one card, cash handling policies and guidelines established by the University and foundation. Actively participates in Athletic Department functions and meetings and in university commitees as assigned. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. General knowledge of NCAA Division II basketball practices and regulations. Ability to establish good rapport and relationships with players, administrators, staff, alumni and the general public. 1-2 years playing basketball experience. 1-2 years basketball coaching experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong computer skills. Valid driver’s license.
