Provide instruction in family and consumer sciences and computer technology to students with diverse learning and behavioral needs in a special education setting. Develop standards-based lessons focusing on academic achievement, independent living skills, and career readiness.
Requires a bachelor's degree in education or a related field and a valid teaching certification. Candidates must have at least one year of experience working with students with disabilities and instructional technology.
Follow all Agency policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations about our school and students. Plan and deliver engaging lessons in family and consumer sciences, including: Nutrition and healthy living Food preparation and kitchen safety Personal finance and budgeting Consumer awareness Career and life skills Teach computer science and technology skills, including: Computer literacy Keyboarding and digital citizenship Basic coding and programming concepts Microsoft Office and productivity software Internet safety and responsible technology use Differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs and IEP goals. Create a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment. Assess student progress and maintain accurate records. Collaborate with special education teachers, therapists, counselors, and families. Integrate assistive technology and teaching strategies. Ensure compliance with school policies, state regulations, and special education requirements. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and parent conferences. Attend meetings, training, professional learning sessions (e.g., first aid, TCI, CPR, emergency procedures, behavior management) to enhance professional skills. Always monitor safety and well-being of students; monitor student attitudes and encourage positive behavior and interactions with peers. Requirements and Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, Family and Consumer Sciences, or a related field required. Valid teaching certification required. 1+ years of experience working with students with disabilities and diverse learning needs required. 1+ years of experience working with instructional technology and computer applications required.
