About the role

Lead JV girls volleyball practices and competitions while teaching fundamental skills and game strategies. Foster a positive, inclusive team culture and serve as a mentor for student-athletes.

York Prep School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated JV Girls Volleyball Coach for the Fall 2026 season. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a junior varsity program focused on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fostering a positive student-athlete experience. Mon-Thurs 4-5pm practice 4-6pm games

Responsibilities

  • Lead all JV girls volleyball practices and competitions
  • Teach fundamental volleyball skills, team systems, and game strategy
  • Create engaging practice plans that support player development
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented culture
  • Manage game-day preparation and coaching responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, and school administrators
  • Serve as a mentor and positive role model for players
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes

Qualifications

  • Previous volleyball playing and/or coaching experience preferred
  • Experience working with middle school or high school athletes is a plus
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to motivate and develop athletes of varying skill levels
  • Reliable, professional, and committed to the full season Ideal Candidate The ideal coach is someone who understands that junior varsity athletics are about more than wins and losses. They are passionate about teaching the game, developing confidence in young athletes, and creating an environment where players can improve their skills while enjoying the experience of being part of a team. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, positive leader, and educator who can help players build a foundation for future success in the sport.
