The Childcare Aide and Floater assists classroom teachers in implementing learning experiences and monitoring children during meals, play, and nap times. They provide essential coverage for teacher absences to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
Under the direction of the Early Childhood Director, the Childcare Center Floater/Aide will be responsible for assisting with activities and providing coverage in classrooms, on the playground, during meals, and nap times.

·Assists the classroom teacher to implement learning experiences. Assists children in accomplishing learning activities. Assists in monitoring children during meals, play, and nap time Provides coverage for classroom teachers, as needed. Relieves teachers and fills in for teacher absences, as needed. Assists the classroom teacher to maintain a safe and positive learning environment. Participates in required training and workshops, as needed to meet NYS OCFS regulations. Performs other duties, as requested.
A high school diploma is required. Experience in a childcare setting is preferred. A friendly, professional demeanor is required; must have the ability to relate to children and develop positive relationships. Excellent communication and multitasking skills. Must hold or be able to obtain First Aid, CPR and AED certifications within 30 days of hire; must complete Child Abuse Prevention and Health and Safety course from NYS OCFS within 30 days of hire. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of people representing all social and economic segments of the community. Proficiency in office software, as needed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to participate in a variety of physical activities; to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach, walk, pull, push, sit, or stand for prolonged periods of time. Other physical requirements include the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk and hear.
