Stuart Country Day School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Varsity Cross Country Coach to lead its high school cross country program during the Fall 2026 season. This is an excellent opportunity for a coach who is passionate about distance running, athlete development, and building a positive, competitive team culture. The ideal candidate will inspire student-athletes to reach their full potential while emphasizing commitment, perseverance, sportsmanship, and personal growth. There may also be opportunities to continue coaching with the program during the Winter and Spring Track & Field seasons.
Plan and lead practices that develop endurance, strength, running mechanics, race strategy, and injury prevention. Prepare athletes for dual meets, invitationals, championship races, and postseason competition. Foster a supportive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes accountability, teamwork, and personal improvement. Develop individualized training plans that accommodate athletes of varying experience and ability levels. Monitor athlete progress and provide constructive feedback throughout the season. Supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, and team events while maintaining a safe environment. Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, athletic department staff, and school administration. Previous cross country and/or track & field coaching experience preferred. Competitive running experience is a plus. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to motivate and mentor high school student-athletes. Knowledge of training principles, race preparation, conditioning, and injury prevention. Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive student-athlete experience. Ability to pass all required background checks and meet school employment requirements.
