Within the TEMS/EDL department, the Teacher Education

Middle and Secondary (TEMS) program invites applications for an adjunct faculty positions. This part-time position is available for Winter of 2026 for an undergraduate course.

TEMS 317 - Methods: Teaching English Language Arts

Required course for ACR teacher candidates seeking initial certification who are preparing to teach diverse populations of middle & high school students in the subject area of English Language Arts. Curriculum planning, standards, teaching strategies and exemplary teaching are addressed in depth. Provides teacher candidates at the middle and secondary level the pedagogical knowledge needed to teach the core subject area of English Language Arts.

Credits: 3 cr

Applicants should indicate their educational background and work expertise related to teaching using online learning management systems (e.g., Canvas), as well as their availability for on-campus instruction.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent in middle and secondary-education related field.
  • Three years of successful classroom experience as a teacher in 5th - 12th grade classrooms.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Experience and ability to positively interact with all members of the campus community
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • College-level teaching experience.
  • Experience with curriculum alignment and assessment.
  • Experience using Canvas as an online learning management system.

Working conditions

  • Duties are generally performed inside and not exposed to adverse conditions.
