The specialist is responsible for developing and implementing childcare and recreation activities and managing classroom operations for clients in a domestic violence shelter. They coordinate enrichment sessions with case managers and facilitate support groups and special events to enhance client socialization.
Candidates need an Associate's degree with one year of relevant experience or a high school diploma/GED with two years of relevant experience. Experience working with populations affected by domestic violence is preferred.

Childcare and Recreation Specialist Principal Responsibilities: Plan, coordinate, publicize, implement, and facilitate support groups, recreational activities, special events and holiday programs. Update and post printed materials and encourage client participation. Assist in the development and implementation of new programs aimed at enhancing clients motivation through socialization and the development of leisure time skills. Coordinate programs with Case Managers to facilitate success of enrichment sessions. Develop contacts with various sources for off-site activities. Assist in preparing and submitting written and statistical reports. Assist in creating an instructional environment that fosters learning and growth. Assist in classroom activities on a daily basis. Help to evaluate the student progress on an ongoing basis, maintaining necessary records. Provide aftercare to clients in the program.
