Nursing Faculty PT

• Fortis Cookeville has a current opening for a Nursing Instructor.
• Fortis is affiliated with Education Affiliates, a company with approximately 50 post-secondary schools nationwide, of which over 20 offer nursing programs.
• These schools are known as Fortis College, Fortis Institute, Denver School of Nursing, and St.
• Paul’s School of Nursing.
• Our programs range from practical nursing to MSN degrees.

Position Description

• Nursing faculty are professionals with the education and practice skills to prepare the next generation of nurses.
• Faculty members are accountable to the Dean/Director of Nursing for the implementation of the approved curriculum, in accordance with the mission and philosophy of the nursing program and the College/Campus.
• They provide students with opportunities to acquire the knowledge and practice the skills identified in course objectives using varied and appropriate teaching methods.
• They plan learning activities to meet program outcomes based on the standards set by policies, legal and other regulatory requirements, and acceptable practice.
• Faculty also participate in the program’s evaluation and continuous improvement process and engage in personal professional development.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited professional nursing education program.
• A current active unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the state of TN or a multistate privilege to practice in TN.
• A master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program (Practical Nursing programs BSN may be acceptable depending on local need).
• Previous teaching experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and analytical skills.
• Excellent teaching and classroom management skills
• Functional abilities to carry out classroom, clinical and laboratory teaching responsibilities
• Competence in clinical skills in areas of teaching
• Competent in personal computer applications: word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email.
• Successful completion of criminal background check and drug screening, required immunizations, current CPR and HIPAA certifications.
• Provides annual documentation of continuing professional growth at the employee’s expense.

Requirements

• Experience of at least three years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse.
• A master's degree in nursing from an accredited program required for faculty teaching in associate degree and bachelor of science in nursing programs.
