What your days look like

You'll provide nursing support within the school setting, including

  • Providing nursing care for a student throughout the school day
  • Performing tracheostomy care and monitoring the student's respiratory status
  • Administering medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Assessing and responding to illness, injuries, or medical emergencies during the school day
  • Maintaining accurate health records and documenting care provided
  • Collaborating with teachers, administrators, therapists, and families to support the student's health and educational goals
  • Serving as a health resource for school staff and assisting with health-related needs as appropriate

Program details

This position is primarily focused on supporting a student who requires ongoing tracheostomy care throughout the school day.

This role offers the opportunity to build a meaningful, long-term relationship with a student and school community while providing consistent nursing support throughout the school year.

The (Required) qualifications

To practice safely and compliantly, we do need

  • Active, unrestricted Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Experience with tracheostomy care preferred
  • Experience working with pediatric patients or school-aged children preferred
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with school staff and families
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross) within 90 days of hire
  • Background check and fingerprinting will be required for this role

Requirements

Requires an active, unrestricted Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license and BLS certification. Experience with tracheostomy care and pediatric patients is preferred.
