Description A Learning Specialist will coordinate the delivery of special education services, is a member of the IEP team, and is responsible for coordinating instruction and related services for the students. Oversees the special education process and verifies that IEP services are implemented in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations; oversees day-to-day operations with students, along with supporting teachers as a member of the learning services team. Evaluating and fulfilling student needs. This individual will be working with middle and high school students.
This is a 9-month position, and the salary range is from $61,000.00 - $92,975.00 depending on experience and education level. Oversee the special education process and verifies that IEP services are implemented in compliance. Assist special education students by delivering academic instruction within special education and general education settings. Assists teachers in adapting the curriculum to students’ individual learning level. Adapts work and monitors and enforces social and acceptable behavior. May assist with administering assessments or testing. Assists instructors with related paperwork. Assist instructors with preparation of classroom materials. Collaborate with staff, parents, and other professionals to accomplish treatment and educational goals. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Technical Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities: Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations with students. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job. Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions. Ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to your job. Includes adapting to and mastering new system applications and processes as implemented by the school. Ability to promote and follow school policies, district Policies and building and department procedures. Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds. Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
