Makes referrals to appropriate medical specialists. Provides patient education to people seen in the clinic.
This position requires a Masters in Nursing/Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner from an accredited college/university, a current Nurse Practitioner certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and at least one year of experience in a general clinic situation, preferably a physician practice. Candidate must provide a certificate of current liability insurance coverage. Experience working in a family practice setting is a plus as is prescription authority from the DEA. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Competent in providing Basic Life Support (with current certification). Exam and Evaluates patient signs/symptoms and initiates treatment as indicated within their scope of practice. Must possess the ability to provide overall care including: Developing treatment plans for acute and chronic diseases; Educating and guiding patients on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle habits; Emphasizing preventative care and disease management; Managing overall patient care regarding lifestyle and development issues. Refers patients to appropriate medical/health care specialists when indicated. Has prescriptive authority by using our MD's DEA or has their own DEA. Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills. Microsoft Office Applications and intermediate computer skills and experience or ability to utilize EMR (Athena). Able to work as a team player with clinic colleagues and department as a whole.
