Intermittent Fitness Instructor (PEAC)

• Definition & Purpose Under the supervision of the Assistant Director—Recreational Sports Programs and Facility Operations, the Intermittent Fitness Instructors teach a variety of classes currently offered within the Group Exercise and Instructional Class Program.
• The staff is responsible for developing individual class lesson plans, being familiar with various styles of class formats offered, supervising class participants, and leading instructional sessions.
• This position is based at the Cal Poly Maritime Academy on the Cal Poly Solano Campus in Vallejo, CA.
• Educational Requirements & Qualifying Experience Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, muscular function, exercise program implementation, safe group exercise, or instructional procedures and use of related class materials and/or equipment.
• Professional instructor certification in related field or prior training required.
• Extensive knowledge of classes being taught.
• Ability to be highly organized and have good planning skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Current American Red Cross certification (or equivalent) in the following: Adult First Aid, CPR, and AED is required within 30 days of hire, training provided by ASI.

The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in ASI policy as a condition of their employment. Compensation & Hours Hourly Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour - $32.00 per hour based on experience for instruction time, $16.90 per hour for meeting and prep time.
