Candidates should have the Child Development Associate (C.D.A) credential or relevant college credit hours in Education. At least one year of formal childcare experience is required, with specific experience for infant and toddler roles.

What does a Teacher’s Assistant do? Assist the classroom teacher in implementing written lesson plans. Assumes the role of the classroom teacher in the teacher’s absence. Attends staff meetings, in-service sessions dealing with childcare duties and trainings (i.e. child abuse and reporting procedures training, CPR, first aid, MAT, etc.).

The Child Development Associate (C.D.A) credential. A combination of at least 12 college credit hours in Education and relevant childcare experience will also be considered. An associate degree in early childhood education or related field is preferred. At least one year of formal experience in childcare. Infant and toddler teacher assistants must have at least one year of specific experience or training in infant/toddler care. Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 31 - 40 lbs.
