Position Summary

The Adjunct Faculty member is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in Education and Early Childhood Education courses. Working under the direction of the department dean or representative, the instructor facilitates student learning through effective teaching practices, rigorous assessment of student performance, and active engagement in course and program activities. The instructor is expected to be accessible to students for conferences—both by appointment and immediately before or after class—and must maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student attendance and academic progress. Instruction may be delivered across various formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, online, or dual-enrollment settings.

Essential job duties, functions and responsibilities

1. Instructional Delivery

Teach assigned Education and Early Childhood Education courses in accordance with approved course outcomes, curriculum, and established syllabi. Deliver engaging instruction through diverse modalities—including lecture, laboratory, online, and off-campus/dual-enrollment (CCP) sites—while incorporating current research, industry trends, and state standards. 2.

Engagement &

Environment: Foster a supportive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment that motivates students and promotes academic success. Operate and maintain safety within all classroom and laboratory environments, and demonstrate enthusiasm and creativity in teaching. 3.

Assessment &

Administration: Develop and implement varied assessments, including assignments, projects, observations, and examinations. Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress using the institutional Learning Management System (LMS) and other required software databases. 4.

Communication &

Confidentiality: Maintain regular, timely communication with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders. Ensure all student records and sensitive documentation are handled with strict confidentiality in compliance with FERPA, institutional policies, and privacy regulations. 5.

Institutional

Collaboration: Work collaboratively with faculty and administration to carry out instructional procedures. Actively participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, orientation, professional development, and accreditation initiatives. 6.

Programmatic

Support: Contribute to student retention, recruitment, and workforce development efforts. Maintain the flexibility and organizational skills necessary to meet diverse academic scheduling requirements across all assigned instructional locations. 7.

Compliance

Adhere to all institutional policies, procedures, and academic standards, ensuring proficiency in all college-authorized systems and instructional technology.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in education, early childhood education, or a related educational setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development, curriculum design, assessment, and effective instructional practices.
  • Teaching experience within a postsecondary educational institution preferred.
  • Exhibit excellent English, communication, and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft® Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) with strong computer and related technology skills required.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and complete projects with minimal direction and oversight.
  • Any combination of work experience, training, and/or education equivalent may be accepted.
  • Willingness to work an irregular schedule as assigned.
  • Candidate must successfully pass a background check, prior to and after employment.
  • Valid driver’s license or dependable transportation required.

This position is classified as Faculty and will teach in a wide range of educational venues to provide quality instruction to a diverse student population for the college, primarily in a classroom or office setting. Further information may be obtained from the Office of Human Resources.
