Summary The Clinical Resident performs the duties of a behavioral (mental) health clinician, providing generalist clinical services to students; training and supervisory services to mental health clinical trainees; and consultation & programming services to faculty, staff, students, and parents/families.

Post-Internship Clinical Residency Responsibilities: Provides psychological services, including psychological and substance use assessments, attention problem screenings, and individual and group counseling and psychotherapy to Miami University students presenting with a wide range of mental health concerns Intervenes in crisis and emergency situations of a mental health nature with students, including after-hours on-call responsibilities Consults with faculty, staff, students, families, and other professionals regarding the mental health needs of students Initiates and responds to requests to provide psycho-educational programming to various groups within the university community Provides clinical supervision and training to clinical trainees within the SCS training program Maintains clinical records and provides clinical documentation and communication with external practitioners as necessary for ethical clinical treatment Attends and participates in clinical staff meetings, consultations, and professional development Assumes responsibility for other assignments, including serving on divisional and university committees Minimum Requirements: Completion of a Ph.D./Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology, from an APA-accredited program, or an MSW degree, working toward independent licensure, or a master's degree in counseling/counselor education or related field, working toward independent licensure. For the disciplines of social work and counseling, applicants must have degrees conferred and have obtained their LSW or LPC license for the State of Ohio by the first day of the Clinical Residency. A supervised internship or equivalent work in a university counseling center, mental health agency, or related professional setting. General skills, knowledge, and experience in individual and group counseling and psychotherapy; assessment; and crisis intervention.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated interest or experience in providing psycho-educational programming to university students. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Mental health experience working on a college or university campus Ability to work closely and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary health and wellness team Proficiency with office and telehealth support tools and electronic medical records software Proficient in written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills Demonstrates a high commitment to quality Possesses flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Possesses a high degree of initiative Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision-making skills Additional Position Information (if applicable) Required Application Documents CV/resume Cover Letter Special Instructions (if applicable) None
