UNT's Office of Advising Services is a centralized advising team committed to serving students and the advising community. From pre-admission through graduation, we eliminate barriers to academic success and increase retention through accessible services including major exploration counseling, prospective advising, and the class concierge service.
This position is responsible for providing guidance to students by appraising their interests, aptitudes, and abilities to develop a career path and degree fit. Connects students with available resources for academic success and personal/professional development. This position assists in implementing programs related to student success and retention.
Master's degree and two years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, professional academic advising, or related experience.
Job Duties
Implements programs related to student success and retention.
Assists with the development retention and completion initiatives.
Consults on difficult issues or expectations related to assisting students.
Counsels students regarding information about their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and other personal characteristics.
Occasional advising and presentations at UNT Frisco.
Presents academic information at new student orientations, exploring majors workshops, and on campus events.
Provides training, and direction to Academic Advisors or other staff as assigned.
Counsels prospective students regarding university requirements and individual program requirements including applicability of transfer credits in a timely and professional manner.
Communicating with others to exchange information.
No adverse environmental conditions expected.
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm
This is a Security Sensitive Position.
