About the role

Create and implement structured educational programs for children in grades K-6 within a licensed after-school setting. Supervise children's growth and safety, including transporting them from schools via JCC vans.

Pay Range

  • $24.72 - $27.04/hour
  • Hours: 25-32.50 hours (Flexible schedule to fit your needs!)

The job

As a Club J Teacher you will create and implement structured programs and promote learning in a licensed after school program serving children in grades K-6. As a year-round employee, you will transition to the J-Camp summer program when school is not in session.

The Core Duties

  • Effectively interact with and supervise school-age children in individual and group settings to broaden their learning experiences
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate experiences to provide a consistent learning environment that allows for emotional, cognitive, social and physical growth in children for the after school program based on departmental goals
  • Challenge children to interact, learn, create and thrive while conforming to the individual needs and development of each child
  • Record daily attendance of children, make sure all children are accounted for and always know their whereabouts
  • Maintain compliance and keep current with Community Care Licensing Regulations in order to maintain accreditation status
  • Handle and address parent concerns and questions promptly and appropriately; informing Club J Director when relevant
  • Adhere to and ensure programs meet all licensing, Club J policies and procedures, including COVID-19 Health & Safety and OFJCC requirements
  • Pick up children in JCC vans from various schools and safely transport them back to Club J, as assigned

The Essentials

  • High School Diploma or GED; Associate Degree preferred
  • 1+ year of experience teaching in a licensed child care center or comparable program preferred
  • 1 year of experience in youth program development preferred
  • 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development (CD) units or units recognized by Community Care Licensing as qualifying in an afterschool setting or Associate Teacher Permit or Teacher Permit issued by the California Commission of Teacher Credentialing
  • Valid and appropriate California Driver License
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability and desire to work independently and as a team member with the community and other employees
  • Ability to multitask and adjust priorities when required
  • Positive, upbeat and enthusiastic about working in a non-profit environment
  • Cleared Background Check (Fingerprints, Child Abuse Index Check and Medical/TB exam)
  • Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certified
