About the role

The instructor teaches community health promotion programs focusing on chronic diseases across various locations in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties. Responsibilities include implementing curricula, adapting educational messages for diverse audiences, and maintaining accurate program records.

Job summary

Under general direction of Program Manager teaches community health promotion programs with focus on Chronic Disease Programs. Programs are held at a variety of community locations in the Corewell Health service area across Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. Performs a wide range of complex functions including following technical protocols of program curricula, using presentation and counseling skills, adapting education messages to a wide variety of audiences, entering program data, handling equipment/supplies and record keeping.

Essential functions

Demonstrates knowledge of program curriculum.

Implements health promotion programs following proper procedures as outlined in training materials.

Ensure accurate results/information given to participant

Ensure participant safety and employee safety

Maintain accurate record keeping and safeguard equipment, supplies, data and monies.

Completes mandatory trainings and self-education modules required by Program Manager.

Works cooperatively with Program Manager, office staff, community organizations and as a team member with other instructors.

Attends work on schedule and follows proper procedures when canceling a work assignment.

Develops and maintains a culture of service excellence with internal and external customers, physicians, and volunteers in accordance with the Corewell Health values of Compassion, Clarity, Collaboration, Curiosity, and Courage.

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma

Preferred

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
  • Ability to deliver instruction, facilitate group discussions, and communicate effectively in both languages
  • Strong written communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Language proficiency may be assessed during the hiring process
  • 2 years of relevant experience teaching in health field, education field, Public Health, Community Health,

Requirements

A high school diploma is required, and bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred. Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant teaching experience in health, education, or public health fields.
