The JV Tennis Head Coach helps create and promote a healthy, inclusive, and growth-oriented team culture. This role focuses on teaching foundational tennis skills, introducing match strategies, and fostering positive player-coach relationships. The head coach provides student-athletes with the opportunity to develop their game, understand singles and doubles play, and embody excellent sportsmanship throughout the fall season.
Plan, direct, and supervise daily tennis practices, ensuring optimal court utilization and active participation.
Skill
Instruction: Teach sport-specific fundamentals appropriate for the JV level, including stroke mechanics, serving, footwork, and basic court positioning.
Match
Strategy: Determine fair and competitive player lineups for singles and doubles matches, managing game-day adjustments and player rotations.
Team
Presence: Be present and actively engaged at all scheduled practices, home and away matches, and team meetings.
Manage and maintain all team equipment, including tennis balls, hoppers, teaching carts, and training aids.
Administrative
Support: Coordinate the distribution and collection of team uniforms and assist with match score reporting.
Travel
Supervision: Ride the team bus or coordinate safe transportation to away matches when necessary to maintain student supervision.
