Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for preschool students with severe needs. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and professionals to provide comprehensive academic and social support.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in special education or a related field. Must hold a current Colorado Special Education Teacher certification.
Essential Job Responsibilities Assess students' abilities and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to their unique needs. Adapt general education lessons and teaching techniques to meet the needs of students with various disabilities. Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students. Prepare and organize classroom activities, educational materials, and assistive technologies to create an effective learning environment. Monitor and document student progress, adjusting teaching strategies and IEPs as necessary. Manage classroom behavior, implementing positive behavior support strategies when needed. Participate in IEP meetings, providing insights on student progress and recommending appropriate interventions. Engage in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in special education. Support early intervening services by participating in multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) or response to intervention (RTI) initiatives Advocate for students' needs and rights, ensuring they receive appropriate accommodations and services. Complete academic assessments as directed by school site.
