The Head Start Substitute Center Aide is an on-call position supporting the center team in creating a high-quality environment by integrating program services within the classroom. This role involves working with children in Early Head Start classrooms, serving children 2-3 years old, and in our Head Start preschool classrooms, serving children 3-5 years old, as assigned. Key responsibilities include preparing and serving meals, assisting with daily cleaning tasks, and providing staff breaks as assigned by the teaching team. The Substitute Center Aide supports the team in supervising children, maintains a safe and sanitary environment, effectively communicates with staff and families as needed, helps with classroom duties, fosters positive child behavior, and ensures adherence to program policies at all times.
Required Requires frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to children’s needs required. This position is rated as active and occasionally requires the individual to lift 50 pounds Must have an initial health examination, and a periodic re-examination (as recommended by health care provider) so as to assure that employees do not because of communicable diseases, pose a significant risk to the health or safety of others, that cannot be eliminated or reduced by reasonable accommodation.
