The Fitness Specialist provides exercise floor supervision, delivers health and fitness programs, and conducts personal training and fitness assessments. They are also responsible for teaching group classes, marketing facility programs, and maintaining equipment and locker rooms.

Summary The Fitness Specialist provides exercise floor supervision, interacts with member program participants, and delivers health and fitness programs and services, promotions and outreach activities. This role is responsible for providing outstanding service to members and program participants to maximize participation, outcomes and customer satisfaction. They provide fitness assessments, personal training, and individualized exercise programs.
Essential Functions (10) Provides individual and group exercise instruction while educating participants on proper techniques to maximize exercise safety Teach fitness classes as assigned Assist in marketing facility and programs internally and externally Performs facility maintenance responsibilities to ensure facility equipment and locker rooms are clean and stocked at all times Proficiency in fitness assessment and exercise prescription Promote program offerings and conducts activities to increase participation and reenergize inactive members Assist with the development and/or delivery of health fitness and program specific improvement programs and promotions Participates in membership drives to acquire members, enrolls new participants, and performs program and equipment orientation. Conducts wellness seminars for corporate clients, health fairs and community programs Maintain a record of past and present clients, attendance and payments Direct Reports (who reports into them) No Direct Reports Qualifications Minimum Experience Required N/A Minimum Experience Preferred Prior experience teaching group exercise classes, personal training experience, community health experience, experience designing group exercise class and personal training programs. Minimum Education Required A bachelor’s degree in athletic training, physical therapy, exercise physiology, exercise science, physical education or other related discipline degree required. Specific certification in personal training required (ACE, ACSM, NSCA or equivalent) or must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire. CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
