  • These efforts support the enhancement and expansion of mental health services available to students within the Tippie College of Business.
  • Specific Job Duties & Tasks Provide clinical counseling to Tippie College of Business students through individual and group therapy using primarily brief‑model interventions.
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments and develop treatment plans for emotional, behavioral, and functional concerns using DSM‑5 criteria.
  • Deliver crisis intervention services for students experiencing mental health urgencies or emergencies.
  • Maintain electronic health records with accurate, timely documentation in accordance with agency and ethical standards.
  • Provide follow‑up case management including coordination of referrals and collaboration with campus and community partners.
  • Offer clinical supervision to mental health trainees, including competency planning, skills development, and performance evaluation.
  • Develop and deliver outreach programs that promote mental health education for students, faculty, staff, and campus partners.
  • Administer clinical service operations within the College of Business, including scheduling, workflow coordination, and adherence to policies.
  • Contribute to policy and procedure development to meet emerging needs within the College of Business and University Counseling Service.
  • Monitor and apply professional standards including APA or NASW ethical guidelines and evolving best practices in collegiate mental health.
  • Prepare reports and analyze service data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for program improvement.
  • Participate in committees and campus collaboration representing UCS/Tippie, strengthening partnerships, and supporting student well‑being initiatives.

  • Requirements

    Doctoral degree in either Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA-Accredited program or Master’s degree in Social Work with clinical focus from a CSWE-Accredited program, or Master’s degree in Counseling from a CACREP-Accredited Program Social Worker or Mental Health Counselor: Licensed as an LISW or LMHC in the State of Iowa by date of hire.

    Psychologist

    Possession of a valid State of Iowa license as a psychologist within 18 months of hire. License must be maintained as a condition of continued employment. Knowledge of evidence and theory based mental health counseling in assessment, crisis, individual, and group with a university/college student population. Ability to assess, manage, and ensure high quality mental health counseling and crisis management. Proficiency in planning and delivering outreach programs and consultation services on a university campus.
