The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides direct occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. This position implements individualized treatment plans that help children develop the skills needed for greater independence, participation, and success in daily activities while partnering with families and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
Provide direct occupational therapy treatment under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based, play-based interventions. Support children with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing challenges, fine motor development, visual motor integration, self-care skills, emotional regulation, and activities of daily living. Assist with feeding therapy interventions when appropriate. Collect treatment data and accurately document client progress. Educate parents and caregivers on home programs and strategies to support carryover outside of therapy sessions. Collaborate with OTs, COTAs, SLPs, SLPAs, PTs, PTAs, and caregivers to coordinate quality client care. Complete documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Arizona Board of Occupational Therapy requirements, and Arbor Therapy policies. Participate in team meetings, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives. Help maintain a safe, organized, and engaging therapy environment.
Required Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program Current Arizona Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license Current Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card Current CPR Card Passion for working with children and families Interest or experience in pediatrics, early intervention, or developmental disabilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to ongoing professional growth Preferred Experience or interest in feeding therapy Experience with sensory integration and developmental disabilities Bilingual (English/Spanish) Schedule Clinic Schedule: Tuesday: 10:00-7:00pm Wednesday: 10:00-7:00pm Thursday: 10:00-7:00pm Friday: 10:00-6:00pm Saturday: 8:00-4:00pm Total Scheduled Hours per Week: 39 Schedules are established based on clinic operations and client needs and may be adjusted as business needs evolve. Physical Requirements This position requires standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, sitting on the floor, lifting, and participating in movement-based therapy activities throughout the workday. The COTA works closely with pediatric clients who may have developmental, sensory, physical, behavioral, or communication challenges.
