Provide one-to-one and small-group academic tutoring in mathematics and literacy for middle school students. Maintain accurate records and assist in the development of instructional materials.
SUMMARY Works directly with students, providing academic tutorial assistance in support of the material taught in grade 6 and/or grade 7 and/or grade 8 mathematics and/or literacy (reading/writing) classes.
Needs to become familiar with Tutor.com to further assist students.
Training will be provided.
Gear Up Tutor-Mentors need to have transportation to their assigned middle school(s).
The hourly rate is up to $20/hour, inclusive of transportation costs.
No additional payment will be made for mileage.

Longfellow Middle School – 305 Louisiana Ave., Lorain, OH
Southview Middle School -- 2321 Fairless Dr., Lorain, OH
General Johnnie Wilson Middle School – 2700 Washington Ave., Lorain, OH
Langston Middle School -- 150 N Pleasant St., Oberlin, OH

The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
Typically, the tutor may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job.
There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.
It will require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and from the work site.
This position is 100% grant funded. If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location to respond to onsite work demands upon the employment start date and throughout the duration of your employment.
