Student Support Services Peer Tutors will provide individualized tutoring focused on gateway courses. Tutoring will be located in the Plass Learning Resources Center.

Essential Functions

Assist TRIO Student Support Services participants in a variety of gateway courses. Help students on a 1-1 basis and communicate ideas in a clear, concise manner. Aid students in exam preparations.

Non-Essential Functions: None

Required Qualifications

Completed at least one semester at Washburn or another college or university with a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher. Received a B or better in the subject to be tutored. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to work well and communicate with first-generation, low income, and/or disabled students, and demonstrated dependability in a professional setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous tutoring experience, completed the NASPA Certified Peer Educator Training Program, and previous experience in federal, TRIO programs or similar programs that support college access, success, and improved academic performance for the first-generation and/or low-income students.
