Texas A&M-Victoria invites applications for a tenure-track Open Rank Professor of Professional Counseling starting Fall 2026. The Texas A&M University-Victoria, College of Education and Health Professions is seeking a qualified applicant to teach master’s level courses in both the clinical mental health counseling and professional school counseling concentrations. The position is based in Victoria Texas a city of 65.5K surrounded by rural communities, but within an easy drive of Corpus Christi, San Antonio, and Houston. The successful candidate will maintain a regular presence on campus in Victoria. The Master of Science Professional Counseling program at A&M-Victoria offers two CACREP-accredited concentrations: Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Professional School Counseling. Candidate must have a doctorate in Counselor Education or related field, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program and be a Certified School Counselor (CSC). Applicants should identify with the counseling profession through membership in professional organizations (i.e., ACA and/or its divisions, ASCA and/or its divisions). Experience in teaching and clinical supervision of counselors-in-training is required. Candidates should have evidence of scholarly activities related to clinical mental health/school counseling and training. Applicants should be familiar with utilizing technology and distance learning and have a working knowledge of and/or experience with the CACREP standards. Candidates are expected to be licensure eligible in the state of Texas. Major responsibilities include: (1) teaching master's level courses in the CACREP-core for the clinical mental health counseling concentration and core counseling areas; (2) curriculum development; (3) supervising counseling student-interns, including clinical site visits; (4) mentoring diverse student population on advisement, and recruitment; (5) working cooperatively with area public schools and clinical mental health agencies; (6) having an interest and participation in professional counseling organizations; (7) serving on departmental and university-wide committees; (8) commitment to scholarly growth and student involvement in ongoing research; (9) participating in appropriate program, school, and university activities such as program information sessions, admissions processes, and workshops, and (10) knowledge of accreditation, program planning, and evaluation. Successful applicants will be required to effectively teach courses on-line. Successful applicants also demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills, collaborative working approach, and leadership skills that align with the mission of the program.
