As a Teacher I, School-Age, you'll create engaging learning experiences that help children continue growing before and after the school day. You'll implement developmentally appropriate curriculum, foster meaningful relationships with children and families, and create a classroom environment where learning, creativity, and belonging go hand in hand. Working as part of a licensed School-Age program, you'll help children build academic, social, and emotional skills while making every day a positive and memorable experience. This is a part-time, year-round position supporting licensed School-Age programs. How You'll Make an Impact Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom where children feel supported, challenged, and inspired to learn. Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities that encourage academic growth, creativity, and positive youth development. Build meaningful relationships with children, families, and fellow Team Members while creating a welcoming classroom community. Support children's social and emotional development through positive guidance, encouragement, and relationship building. Help ensure the classroom operates safely and in compliance with YMCA standards and California Community Care Licensing requirements. • Friday, with before school shifts between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and after school shifts between 1:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Paid training and professional development are provided throughout the year, including occasional non-school days. Additional opportunities to work may be available during school intersessions, summer day camp, and other YMCA youth programs. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications Eighteen (18) years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent. Twelve (12) semester units in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Recreation, Physical Education, Human Services, Social Welfare, School-Age coursework, or other qualifying coursework that meets California Community Care Licensing requirements for School-Age Teachers. At least six months of experience working with children in a group setting. Experience planning and implementing age appropriate, developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities. Strong communication skills, emotional maturity, and the ability to build positive, authentic relationships with children and families from diverse backgrounds. Current EMSA First Aid and Adult, Infant, and Child CPR certifications, or the ability to obtain required certifications as a condition of employment. Completion of required health screenings, immunizations, and background clearances required for licensed child care programs.
