Job description

About the Role

The School Psychologist plays a critical role in supporting the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of students. This position involves conducting comprehensive psychological assessments to identify learning disabilities, developmental delays, and behavioral challenges, enabling the creation of tailored intervention plans. The School Psychologist collaborates closely with educators, parents, and other professionals to design and implement evidence-based strategies that promote positive student outcomes and inclusive learning environments. They also provide counseling and crisis intervention services to support students' mental health and well-being.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in School Psychology or a closely related field.
  • Certification or licensure as a School Psychologist in the state of employment.
  • Experience conducting psychological assessments and interpreting results for children and adolescents.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of child development, learning disabilities, and behavioral interventions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities.
  • Training or certification in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams in educational settings.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis and progress monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychological and educational assessments to evaluate students' cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
  • Develop and implement individualized intervention plans based on assessment results, including behavior management and applied behavior analysis techniques.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and special education teams to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disabilities, and developmental disabilities.
  • Provide counseling and support services to students to address social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
