Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a compassionate, organized, and experienced School Nurse to support the health, safety, and well-being of students throughout the school day. The School Nurse plays a vital role in promoting student wellness, providing direct nursing care, managing student health records, and partnering with families, faculty, and healthcare providers to ensure students are healthy and ready to learn. The ideal candidate is a skilled healthcare professional who enjoys working with children and adolescents and is committed to fostering a safe and healthy school environment. Essential Responsibilities Assess and provide nursing care to students presenting with illness or injury during the school day. Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate first aid, treatment, and follow-up care. Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student illnesses, injuries, medications, and health concerns. Coordinate emergency response procedures and collaborate with school administrators and emergency personnel when necessary. Maintain accurate and confidential student health records in accordance with state and federal regulations. Review and verify student immunization records and ensure compliance with Massachusetts school health requirements. Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school policies. Develop and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs), Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), and other student health accommodations as needed. Promote student wellness through health education and preventive care initiatives, including hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention. Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, families, and healthcare providers to support student health and academic success. Maintain inventory and proper storage of medications and medical supplies. Participate in school meetings, professional development, and other activities that support school operations.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Massachusetts School Nurse Licensure (or eligibility to obtain licensure) preferred. Minimum of two years of nursing experience; previous school nursing or pediatric experience preferred. Strong clinical assessment and emergency response skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable state and federal regulations. Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Reporting Relationship This position reports to the appropriate School Administrator and is a full-time, annual appointment subject to yearly evaluation.
