The Assistant Baseball Coach manages position players, pitchers, and catchers while assisting with game preparation and scouting. Responsibilities also include recruiting student-athletes, overseeing field maintenance, and supporting academic and conditioning programs.

Office of Intercollegiate Athletics seeks a dynamic, forward thinking and engaging Assistant Baseball coach to join our department of athletics. The successful candidate will demonstrate support for diversity, equity and inclusiveness as well as participate in maintaining a respectful, positive work environment. Under the direction of the Head Baseball Coach, the assistant coach will have responsibilities within all aspects of program management including, but not limited to: coaching the position players of the head coach’s choice; working with pitchers and catchers as assigned; calling pitches during games and running bullpens during practice; assisting with the hitters during practice and pre-game batting practice; position player positioning during games; coaching first or third base; practice and game preparation; organizing game charts and advanced scouting charts; recruiting; assisting with field maintenance; game day field prep; handling uniform hand-out and turn-in; assisting in camps and clinics; academic study hall instruction; weights and conditioning instruction; fundraising and volunteer events.
Must demonstrate the ability to recruit, coach and improve talented student athletes. Exhibit leadership and professional behavior in dealing with students athletes and staff. Must be a team player, and have the ability to support and assist other employees. Develop a positive atmosphere for the program both internally and externally within the athletic department and college.
The assistant coach will be expected to attend all practices, games, staff meetings, retreats. This coach will also assist in the annual golf tournament fundraiser, attend a night of volunteer work at the Opportunity Village’s Magical Forest, attend the awards banquet and help in staffing and working athletic events the occur in the fall sports season. Physical Demands Sedentary Work – Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity of condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve waling or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Requires frequent, sometimes prolonged work on a personal computer/ laptop. Working weekends and evenings will be required as well as extensive travel around the Las Vegas valley and the state. Occasional out of state travel for games and recruiting purposes. Working in extreme weather conditions, including heat, wind, rain and other outside effects. Must be able to throw batting practice and swing a coach’s fungo bat. Additional physical lifting may be required to completed job assignments that exceed 25 pounds of force.
Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Previous college baseball coaching or college/professional playing experience required. General knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, NJCAA and NCAA policies and compliance issues. Salary To be determined. 10 month period *Commensurate with experience and assigned responsibilities. Schedule The current schedule for the Fall 2026 practices is Tuesday - Friday 2:15 PM to 5:30 PM and Saturdays from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Our first team meeting is scheduled for August 17. Variations to these times often occur due to scheduled fall games and rest for student – athletes. The fall will consist of a 20 game fall schedule, 1 being out of town for the day. The spring semester (In – Season) will consist of 56 games, 5-6 travel weekends. Weekend travel include Thursday – Saturday late night/Sunday morning. This scheduled does not include post – season play. Post season games are scheduled for Wednesday – Saturday (Region XVIII tourney), Thursday – Saturday (Western District tournament and then up to 10 days at the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado. The regular season generally includes games from the last Friday in January through the first or second week of May.
