The Behavior Technician collaborates closely with the teacher to support educational instruction for students with behavioral disabilities. Therapeutic assistance is offered through skills reinforcement and pre-academic/academic training, following the teacher's lesson plans, the social worker and school psychologist's treatment plans, the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), and the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP). This 10-month full-time role will report to the campus's Assistant Director of Student Support Services. The salary range for this role is $43,926 - $66,504. You will: Assist teachers with providing therapeutic and instructional support for students with emotional and behavioral disorders; Implement Behavior Intervention Plan; Utilize behavior strategies defined in the Behavior Intervention Plan; Assist teachers with collecting behavioral data and implementing behavior support strategies; Maintain appropriate documentation, records, and reports; Administer behavior inventories and checklists to support the development of student behavior intervention plans; Maintain a caseload of students with identified emotional and behavioral needs; Consult and collaborate with the Assistant Director of Student Support Services and the BCBA, if applicable; Attend IEP meetings as needed and provide input in developing behavior intervention plans for students needing behavior support services; Create a positive and supportive classroom culture and environment that puts relationships with students first; Engage parents and families in their student's academic success; Ensure services and supports comply with Washington, D.C., and federal laws and regulations; and Be an active member of the school community, attending and participating in school events outside of regular school hours and completing other duties as assigned QualificationsYou Have: High School Diploma or the equivalent Familiarity and experience with special education students in the District of Columbia. Demonstrated experience, comfort, and success in building a positive and supportive classroom culture; Used models and exemplars to drive instruction; Strong collaboration skills to ensure student success. You Might Also Have: An associate degree or having earned at least 48 credit hours from an accredited college or university is preferred; A Washington, D.C. teaching certification; A strong background in differentiated and individualized instruction; Experience in hands-on learning, such as experiential learning or project-based learning; Proficiency in another language; and A master's degree in education or your subject area.
