Holy Redeemer Catholic Church is seeking a faith-filled and dedicated PSR (Parish School of Religion) Teacher to support the faith formation of children and youth within the parish. The PSR Teacher is responsible for creating a welcoming learning environment, teaching Catholic doctrine and traditions in accordance with Church teachings, and helping students grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. This part-time position works collaboratively with the Director of Religious Education, parish staff, parents, and volunteers to support the parish's mission of evangelization and faith formation. Essential Responsibilities
- Teach assigned PSR classes using the approved curriculum and instructional materials.
- Prepare and deliver engaging lessons that communicate Catholic teachings, Scripture, prayer, sacraments, and moral development.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and faith-centered classroom environment.
- Encourage students to actively participate in class discussions, prayer experiences, and parish life.
- Support students in preparing for sacramental celebrations as applicable.
- Maintain attendance records and communicate student progress or concerns to the Director of Religious Education.
- Collaborate with catechists, volunteers, and parish staff to support religious education programs and events.
- Participate in catechist meetings, training sessions, retreats, and formation opportunities as required.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding classroom activities, expectations, and student participation.
- Promote and model Catholic values, teachings, and Christian behavior.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students and comply with all Archdiocesan safe environment requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Religious Education or Pastor.
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic committed to the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church.
- Knowledge of Catholic doctrine, Scripture, sacraments, and traditions.
- Previous teaching, catechetical, ministry, or volunteer experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage children and youth in faith formation.
- Willingness to complete Archdiocesan training and Safe Environment requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional religious education, theology, or education coursework preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to present Catholic teachings in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with parish staff, volunteers, students, and families.
