About the role

The Substitute Instructor delivers instruction in designated subject areas within a regular classroom setting. They are responsible for maintaining classroom discipline, promoting student motivation, and managing student records and attendance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Substitute Instructor performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject area.
  • Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to insure maximum student motivation.
  • The Substitute Instructor maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to insure maximum learning.
  • Maintains student personnel folders.
  • Records and forwards daily attendance to the Student Records area.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Teaching certification preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to substitute teach per New Mexico DOE guidelines.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.

The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment.
