With the addition of the $70 million Midco Arena, Augustana Athletics is launched the first collegiate hockey program in South Dakota in 2023 and is also the first athletics program to compete at Division I that calls Sioux Falls home. Currently with 21 NCAA Division II sports programs, Augustana Athletics is focused on building champions in the classroom, in competition and in the community, highlighted by three team national championships since 2016. Viking Athletics finished #7 nationally in the Division II Learfield Director’s Cup in 2021-22 and also won the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) All Sports Award.
Augustana University (SD) is seeking qualified applicants for a Graduate Fellowship for Athletic Compliance, 12-month Master’s in Sports Administration and Leadership program, averaging 15 hours per week, within our Athletics Department.
An Augustana graduate fellowship or scholarship is offered to students pursuing a Master of Sports Administration & Leadership (MSAL) who must execute 480 internship hours within the Augustana University Athletics Department.
This is an unpaid position that offers a 50% tuition benefit, and is based on admission into the Augustana MSAL Program and completion of this application, including the required essay and an interview with a member of the athletics department.
AU graduate fellowships are competitive with limited availability per area of interest.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree prior to starting the AU MSAL Program.
Current student-athletes and graduate assistants are not eligible for a graduate fellowship.
The graduate fellow will work closely with our athletic compliance staff and other university staff to assist with the operational needs of a NCAA Division II athletic department that competes at the NCAA Division I level in men’s hockey, and will receive invaluable experience working with our programs, student-athletes, coaches, and campus staff.
Assist with reviewing and monitoring athletic eligibility for all 22 intercollegiate sports teams.
Assist with monitoring countable athletic related activity.
Assist with rules education and interpretation.
Other duties as assigned.
• The graduate fellow will be required to a confidentiality statement to work with the athletic compliance office.
