Provides direct health services and education to students while collaborating with school principals and the School Health Program Coordinator. Acts as a liaison between the school, community agencies, and health professionals to manage student learning and health needs.
Colleague must have an RN license, as defined by their primary work state (Idaho or Oregon), issued prior to the hire date. · IDAHO ONLY: Multistate licenses must establish residency with the Idaho Board of Nursing within 60 days from hire. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred. At hire, Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required. (ACLS and/or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS) Ability to achieve the Idaho Board of School requirements (fingerprinting, background check) Complete the required school mandated training for Safe Environment Training. Ability to function independently. Program development and school health or pediatric nursing experience preferred. Attend weekly 30-minutes huddles on Tuesdays and monthly 90-minute staff meetings (Fridays). National School Nurse Certification preferred. Must have active driving privileges. If, during the course of employment, driving privileges change or colleague receives a driving citation, the colleague is required to notify their supervisor and/or HR. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric as applicable). Provides direct nursing care. Provides health education regarding hygiene, nutrition and other health related topics. Performs screenings for immunization status, scoliosis, vision and hearing. Functions as School/Community Liaison. Plans and coordinates School Health Program. Demonstrates good listening skills.
