Summary At the Santa Fe College Little School, toddlers and preschool children thrive in a nurturing and engaging learning environment, which also serves as a supervised training ground for aspiring childhood educators. As the Child Care Center Teacher, you play a pivotal role in fostering the positive growth and development of these young learners. The hourly rate for this position is $15.29.
Responsibilities and Duties include: Plans and implements weekly lesson plans with colleagues centered on age appropriate developmental and educational goals. Uses teaching strategies that build on and extend what children already know. Helps children acquire the necessary skills for transitioning to preschool, such as potty training, self-help skills, and language skills. Facilitates child-child interactions with the goal of teaching and modeling problem solving skills. Demonstrates appropriate and safe teacher-child interaction. Teaches and practices the violence prevention curriculum, including empathy building, impulse control, and emotion management. Helps children gain self-control, self-confidence, and positive self-esteem by using relationship building techniques. Builds developmental skills with children across social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language domains. Records observational and developmental data for each child in each domain of development. Communicates well with parents daily and in formally arranged conferences. Informs Director of any concerns regarding children or parents. Participates in weekly staff professional development meetings as scheduled. Keeps the bulletin boards appealing and appropriate. Maintains classroom materials in an organized, clean and accessible manner. Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement. Performs other duties as assigned. Reports to: Director, Little School QUALIFICATIONS Required: A high school diploma with previous experience working with young children. Must obtain a CDA or FCCPC within the first year of employment or be working toward an A.S. in Early Childhood.
A.S. in Early Childhood with at least six (6) months of experience working with young children.
