Job Description

Summary: The Child Care Assistant assists the classroom teachers in all aspects of the program helping create a total learning environment for the individual needs of each child. The assistant is also responsible for classroom, center and equipment cleanliness in order to meet nurturing and physical care responsibilities of the children.

Qualifications Vocational / Technical Degree in Certificate (TCC) in a related field, preferably in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) concentration, In lieu of a Technical College Certificate (TCC) a valid, current Child Development Associate (CDA) or a valid, current Paraprofessional Certificate with 2 additional years experience (Required) Work Experience 2+ years Assisting or teaching a group of young children in a child care setting (Required)

Maintains a clean child center environment both inside the center and outside. Encourages and instructs children in personal hygiene and group health practices. Report any suspect child abuse to supervisor. Additional Duties Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines. Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization. Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures. Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs). Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time. Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills. Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate. Requirements

Requires a Vocational/Technical degree in a related field, a CDA, or a Paraprofessional Certificate with two years of experience. Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience teaching young children and obtain CPR certification within one year of hire.
