About the role

The Teacher's Aide provides small group and one-on-one instructional support to reinforce classroom lessons. Responsibilities include proctoring tests, preparing learning materials, and communicating student progress to the special education coordinator.

Joseph School in Shelbyville is hiring a teacher's aide for the 2026-2027 school year.

Position essential functions 1.

Transcribing tests or other written assignments 2.

Proctoring tests and quizzes 3.

Small group and one-on-one instruction reinforcing lessons taught in the classroom by the general education teacher 4.

Aids in the preparation of learning and practice materials, behavior management support materials, and other items as needed 5.

Communicates daily with the special education coordinator regarding student progress and needs 6.

Assists in record keeping and data tracking as needed 7.

Other duties as necessary to ensure efficient functioning of the School/ Parish/ Agency

Position specifications/Requirements a.

Ability to maintain confidentiality 5.

Ability to communicate and work well with children in a positive manner 6.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE 1. Must be able to understand and to comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct 2. Must be able to successfully complete the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training 3. Background screening required 4. Valid driver's license required

Requirements

Candidates must possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills and be able to work positively with children. Requirements include a valid driver's license, background screening, and completion of Archdiocese of Indianapolis safety training.
