  • Range: $2,423.50 - $2,423.50Girard College is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Varsity Boys’ Soccer Coach. The Assistant Coach is responsible for supporting the Head Coach in the instruction, training, and development of varsity-level male student-athletes in the sport of soccer. The Assistant Coach will help foster a positive, disciplined, and high-energy team culture that reflects the mission and values of Girard College. The successful candidate must possess a strong knowledge of soccer rules, strategies, and skill development and demonstrate the ability to work effectively within an educational athletic environment. Reports To Athletic Director Head Varsity Boys’ Soccer Coach Responsibilities The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of all aspects of the varsity soccer program. All coaches are responsible for supporting the program in the best interest of Girard College while adhering to the policies and regulations of the Penn-Jersey Athletic Association (P.J.A.A.), the Metropolitan Philadelphia Athletic Association (M.P.A.A.), the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (P.I.A.A.), and all Girard College policies and procedures. Required Skills Implement practice plans designed by the Head Coach. Teach and reinforce soccer fundamentals, strategy, and sportsmanship. Motivate student-athletes and promote a positive team culture. Communicate team expectations clearly and consistently with players and families. Collaborate effectively with coaches, administrators, faculty, and staff. Consistently model professionalism and sportsmanship. Support student-athlete development in alignment with program goals. Work in an educational environment and maintain positive relationships with the school community. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions as needed. Lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Required Duties Assist the Head Coach in organizing practices and developing game strategies. Conduct skill-development drills emphasizing soccer fundamentals. Assist with monitoring student-athletes’ academic progress, attendance, and performance. Support player development at both the individual and team levels. Assist in maintaining, storing, and organizing all team equipment. Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes during practices and competitions. Follow the Athletic Trainer’s care plan for injured student-athletes. Assist with distribution and collection of uniforms, equipment, and supplies before and after the season. Assist with transporting student-athletes to and from competitions as assigned. Maintain appropriate conduct toward students, officials, opponents, and spectators at all times. Promote and maintain a non-discriminatory and inclusive team environment. Attend Athletic Department meetings when requested by the Athletic Director. Maintain current First Aid and CPR/AED certification. Hours In-Season The soccer season lasts approximately 8–10 weeks and may extend to 12 weeks if the team qualifies for postseason play. Coaches are expected to be available for approximately two hours per day, Monday through Friday, for practices, with Saturday availability as needed. Coaches are required to attend all scheduled home and away contests. Off-Season Coaches are expected to support approved off-season workouts and training opportunities with the approval of the Athletic Director. QualificationsQualifications Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of three (3) years of coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, or professional level. Completion of all PIAA coaching education requirements by the time of hire. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty, staff, and families. Commitment to the academic, athletic, and personal development of student-athletes. Required Certifications FBI Fingerprint Clearance Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record References Please provide three (3) professional references from previous employers or supervisors who can speak about your soccer coaching experience and ability to work with student-athletes.

Requirements

Requires a bachelor's degree and at least three years of coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, or professional level. Must obtain necessary background clearances and PIAA coaching certifications.
