About the role

Provide one-on-one in-home academic support and homework help for K-8 students across various subjects. Create a positive and safe learning environment while helping students achieve their academic goals.

We are StudyPoint, a national leader in one-on-one tutoring. We operate in 19 markets nationwide as well as online, and we have worked with more than 55,000 students since 1999! Currently, we’re seeking tutors who can provide in-home academic support and homework help for elementary and middle school students for math, language arts, science, social studies, and other subjects. \n

StudyPoint's expert tutors have the following qualifications

A minimum of 2 years of teaching and/or tutoring experience Bachelor’s degree Strong academic background - preference for classroom teachers/paraprofessionals Confidence teaching the reading, writing, and math skills covered in the elementary and middle grades Reliable car access to travel to students’ homes

Be an employee, not a contractor: All of our tutors are W-2 employees, not 1099 contactors, and you'll receive paid training as well.

Dedicated

Support: You will have a manager as well as a mentor who are there to support you each step of the way.

No non-compete: You are free to continue with your private tutoring or tutoring with other organizations in addition to working with our students.

\n Typical Hours

  • Prime tutoring hours generally fall outside of school hours and on weekends. Your availability should include 6 or more hours per week and should be primarily be in the following time blocks:
  • Monday-Friday: 3pm-9pm
  • Saturday/Sunday: 9am-9pm

  • We tutor in the following towns in your area: Houston, Cypress, Fresno, Friendswood, Humble, Katy, Kingwood, League City, Missouri City, Pasadena, Pearland, Richmond, Spring, Sugar Land, The Woodlands. Being able to cover some of these towns will help ensure that we are able to pair you with in-home students!

Requirements

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of teaching or tutoring experience. Reliable transportation is required to travel to students' homes in the Houston area.
