About the role

The specialist conducts twice-weekly home visits with multiple families to facilitate and model positive parent-child interactions. They are also responsible for documenting sessions and collaborating with the home visiting staff.

Overview

Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS), a nonprofit founded in 1943, has grown to be the largest provider of licensed outpatient community mental health services and one of the largest human service agencies in Westchester County. We provide state-of-the-art programs and services and compassionate care to more than 20,000 people of all ages and backgrounds each year.

We are seeking a part-time Early Learning Specialist to join the team Early Childhood home visiting team. This position is 12-18 hours per week, with additional attendance required for initial training, based out of our Headquarters in White Plains, NY.

The schedule is flexible, but must include mornings, September through June, following a school-year calendar.

The pay rate for this part-time position is $17.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • As a valued member of our team, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Twice weekly home visits with 5 or more families.
  • Documentation of home visiting session.
  • Collaboration with home visiting staff.
  • Facilitating and modeling positive parent–child interactions.

Requirements

We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications

  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to sit on the floor.
  • Computer skills, including email, word processing, and mobile apps.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Enjoys working with parents and children from infancy through preschool age.
  • Comfortable engaging with families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Able to model simple and effective parent–child interaction strategies.
  • Creative, flexible, and a strong team player.
