WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are actively seeking Westchester County part-time sports specialists with experience coaching and teaching group sports and physical activity in our after school enrichment programs. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING The After School Sports Enrichment Coach plays a key role in delivering fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate sports programming for students in grades Pre-K through Middle School. This position is ideal for an enthusiastic, energetic, and reliable individual who is passionate about youth development through sports and physical activity. As a Sports Enrichment Coach, you will help foster an inclusive and supportive environment where all participants feel welcome and encouraged to grow their physical, social, and emotional skills through structured sports and games. Depending on your availability and skill set, you can expect to work between 10 to 15 hours per week, earning a competitive hourly rate. Coach for

Sports &

Games, your key responsibilities will include: Programming & Facilitation Plan and facilitate age-appropriate sports and physical activities, including skill-building exercises and recreational games. Demonstrate basic understanding of how to coach at least two of our specialty sports areas: Basketball, Soccer, Flag Football, Pickleball, Tennis, Track, or Volleyball. Adapt lessons to meet the needs of varying skill levels while ensuring safety and fun. Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competition in all activities. Complete regular written progress reports and provide ongoing feedback to Site Directors, participants, and parents. Commit to partaking in all enrichment coach trainings throughout the school year. Virtual and in person Engagement & Relationship Building Build positive relationships with students, serving as a role model and mentor. Encourage participation and provide positive reinforcement to boost self-confidence. Create an inclusive environment where every child feels welcome and valued. Model and promote positive character development and healthy peer interactions. Use positive language at all times when engaging with the students. Collaboration & Communication Coordinate with the site director to manage schedules, equipment, and space needs. Maintain clear communication with the Site Director regarding student progress, attendance, and any behavioral or safety concerns. Support transitions, dismissal, and other program operations as needed. Safety & Supervision Maintain a safe and organized play environment by inspecting equipment and enforcing safety guidelines. Actively supervise all students to ensure a safe and structured environment. Incorporate appropriate warm-ups, cool-downs, and injury-prevention techniques. Respond appropriately to injuries, behavioral challenges, or conflicts, following organizational policies. Professionalism & Representation Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to actively engage with youth. Lateness and absences will be tracked through our call out policy Excessive tardiness and absences could result in reduced schedules or more Be prepared in proper uniform for every day of program. Company shirt or sweater (log visible at all times) Sneakers / Close-Toed walking shoes No Crocs or sandals Athletic shorts or sweatpants Uphold the organization’s mission and values both in and out of the program. Demonstrate integrity, reliability, and a strong work ethic.

Compensation

This is a part-time, hourly position. We offer competitive hourly rates in the range of $21-24 / hour for Enrichment Coaches based on prior experience as a general coach, teacher, youth development specialist, or activity specialist. WHAT WE ARE GOING TO LOVE ABOUT YOU Our ideal candidate would meet some or all of the following qualifications: Experience coaching or teaching a variety of sports and physical activities to groups of elementary and/or middle school children. Must be able to actively participate in physical activities, including running, jumping, bending, and lifting light sports equipment. Possess at least two years of prior teaching or coaching experience. Possess strong interpersonal skills to relate to younger children, work with different age groups, and partner with school staff to support children’s physical and emotional needs. Be available to work Monday - Friday during after school hours (2-6pm) to teach sports and physical games and activities. Ability to reliably commute to multiple locations throughout the week to teach classes throughout Westchester. Up-to-date physical and tuberculosis test documentation will be required before starting. You must pass Federal and NY State background checks and be willing to complete Department of Education fingerprinting before starting. CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are a plus. Physical Requirements & Active Coaching Expectations At Kids in the Game, our coaches are active, engaged, and present with kids—on the playground, in the gym, and out in the community. The physical requirements below reflect the essential functions of our coaching roles and the dynamic environments in which our programs take place. We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations to support individuals with disabilities in performing these essential functions. Physical activity levels may vary by coaching placement (recess, PE, after school, or summer camp), but all roles involve active supervision, movement, and hands-on engagement with children.

Active supervision & physical requirements include: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, including during outdoor activities, playground supervision, gym classes, or park-based programming. Ability to walk to and from nearby program locations or parks, sometimes several blocks, while supervising children. Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and reach to engage with children at their level, assist with activities, or provide support as needed. Ability to climb stairs in school buildings or community facilities. Ability to lift and carry up to 25–40 pounds, including sports equipment, activity supplies, or personal belongings (weight may vary by role). Ability to participate in active games and movement-based activities, including running, jumping, throwing, and demonstrating basic sports skills. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, or light rain, depending on program needs. Ability to maintain visual and auditory awareness to supervise children effectively and ensure safety in active environments.
