About the role

Lead or assist in after-school programs focusing on movement, creativity, and mindfulness for elementary students. Responsibilities include implementing provided curriculum and managing classroom behavior in indoor and outdoor settings.

After School Instructors and Assistants needed for Elementary School - Aged Movement and Creativity programs located in South Monterey County. We are looking for people who will share our passion for education, positive encouragement and making a difference in the lives of students. We’re hiring enthusiastic individuals for locations in Greenfield.

Yogativity programs focus on mindfulness, blended with fun programs that students love.

MakerSpace and Mindful Bites programs are a blend of art, science, engineering and creativity.

We typically offer two Movement programs - Yogativity - which is a fun blend of stretching, science, games and fun, and Mindful Martial Arts - which is a no contact movement course that blends the history and culture of Martial Arts, with conflict resolution strategies and Tai Chi - like movement sequences.

There is no physical contact.

You will typically be assigned one program topic.

Training is provided for all programs. We will provide daily curriculum, plans, games and materials for each class.

Students are grouped by grade levels with class sizes maximum 20 students to two Yogativity staff.

What you will be doing

  • Lead (or assist) with after school instruction for students.

Qualifications

Experience & Skills Experience working with youth in an educational, recreational, or after-school setting Strong communication and relationship-building skills Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities Comfortable leading groups of students and managing classroom behavior Education Candidates must meet one of the following: Bachelor’s degree or working on one (Education or related field preferred) Two years of college or equivalent coursework credits. Ability to pass a company instructional assessment Additional Requirements CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start) Work Environment & Physical Requirements This role requires the ability to actively engage in both indoor and outdoor program settings. Responsibilities may include: Standing, walking, and moving throughout program spaces Lifting and carting materials (up to 50 lbs) Supervising students in active, sometimes high-energy environments Managing occasional interruptions and dynamic situations What your schedule will look like: Monday through Friday afternoons in person at school sites, 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, (3 hours) and daily prep time. Occasionally, you may be asked to work 12:15 - 5:15 ( 5 hours) for scheduled special event days, which are 14 days of the year and scheduled in advance.
