About the role

The teacher is responsible for delivering rigorous Social Studies instruction and managing all aspects of classroom learning and student accountability. They must collaborate with team members and parents to drive student achievement and meet NWEA growth targets.

Social Studies Teacher - High School Location - Phoenixville PA 19460 Qualifications / Requirements PA Valid Teaching Certificate in Content/Grade area Demonstrates a vested interest in the success, future and Vision of The Renaissance Academy Excellent oral and written communication skills Pedagogical skills in literacy and numeracy (not sure the best way to say this but want to impress upon staff that we are all teachers of the three Rs) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Characteristics of an RA Staff Member The staff at the Renaissance Academy views their Teachers as professional, leaders and learners in their classrooms.

Staff is expected to model and facilitate learning for their students while maintaining a safe and secure environment for their students.

An RA Teacher is expected to be honest and fair while keeping the best interests of the school students at the forefront of decisions and discussions.

An RA Teacher has a clear sense of the school's Vision and focus on continuous improvement.

He / She is able to see and articulate how they fit directly into that plan and can influence others to drive the Mission of the school toward high levels of success and achievement.

They are focused on forward planning and aware of how their role fits into the 'bigger scope' of school-wide needs.

A team player mindset is necessary and a willingness to open one's door and "bag of tricks" to fellow teachers is essential in our team atmosphere.

A "whatever it takes" attitude is necessary to inspire students to learn, improve their character, and achieve their goals.

Four Pillars of the Teacher: Teachers are expected to achieve this through - Daily Monitor and hold students accountable regarding classroom deadlines , expectations and goals / norms of the classroom Provide rigorous and challenging activities and lessons for the students' benefit and are able to differentiate instruction to support struggling learners while challenging quicker learners.

Post and review daily learning objectives and agenda with the students in relation to curricula objectives Conduct a warm-up (Do Now) and closing activity each class period Return any sort of parental or student communication within 48 hours Assign homework and outside learning activities as needed to reinforce the instruction and/or prepare students for future learning.

Weekly Provide guidance toward student goal setting, monitoring of grades and follow-up on RTII needs Communicate with co-teachers, team members or admin related to needs of students in classroom settings Communicate with parents regarding student success and needs Update gradebooks Assess students frequently using formative and summative assessments Monthly Report concerns and accomplishments to their lead teacher Attend staff meetings once a month Attend departmental meetings once a month at a time determined by the department (Departmentalized Teachers) Make positive phone calls/emails home to students Quarterly Participate in year-long planning by setting house team goals (due each September) Review team Professional Growth Plan with Lead Teacher and Team Members Develop SLC comments and student goals Participate in SLC conferences once a Trimester from 8AM-8PM Thursday and 8am – 12pm Friday.

Yearly Attend a variety of events, performances & family involvement opportunities throughout the school year in support of the staff and students (year-long) Complete End of Year evaluation for Lead Team Member and Admin (April / May) Establish year-long personal professional goals Document progress on professional goals and present to your team and administrators Call all Homebase students at the start of the year (if applicable) Leadership: To plan strategically for the long-term and daily learning of their students Assessment: To be accountable for the achievement of the NWEA growth targets for their students while being aware of school-wide goals Teaching and Learning: To be responsible for the quality of Teaching and Learning in their classroom, striving for the best outcomes for their students.

Rigor/Creativity: Providing a challenge to each student, each day.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate in the appropriate content and grade area. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong pedagogical skills in literacy and numeracy are required.
