Title: Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) – 2026/2027 School Year Location: Anoka, MN Duration: September 8, 2026 to June 10, 2027 Onsite/Virtual: Onsite Position Type: Select a Position Type Working Hours: 37.5 hours/week (typically 8:30 AM to 4:10 PM) Student Age Group: Elementary schools Caseload: Covers 3 Elementary schools Position Overview The Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) will collaborate with another BIS and the Special Education Administrator to support students with behavioral needs across approximately 3 to 4 assigned school sites. School assignments will consider the candidate's location when possible, but specific sites cannot be guaranteed.
Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs). Develop and implement Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS). Support students through behavior intervention, de-escalation, and crisis response. Train school staff on behavior strategies and recommendations. Assist with IEP development and implementation. Use behavioral data to guide interventions and programming. Maintain a safe learning environment. Follow district policies and state/federal special education requirements. Perform additional duties assigned by the Director of Special Education.
