The Part-Time Lab Assistant supports the Paramedic and the EMT Programs by assisting instructors in laboratory sessions, maintaining lab equipment and supplies, and ensuring a safe, clean, and productive learning environment for students. This individual plays a critical role in helping students develop hands-on skills aligned with industry standards and program outcomes.

  • Support: Assist faculty during lab sessions with student demonstrations, skill check-offs, and supervision of hands-on activities.
  • Provide guidance to students as they practice technical skills such as: Prescription filling Compounding (non-sterile/sterile, as applicable) Inventory management Labeling and packaging medications Reinforce classroom instruction with real-world techniques and safety practices.

  • Operations: Prepare lab materials and equipment before each session. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and functionality of lab areas. Ensure proper storage and disposal of expired or used materials. Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the Program Director.

  • Safety: Follow all institutional policies and Paramedic/EMT regulations related to lab operations. Ensure students adhere to safety protocols Maintain documentation for lab activities as required by accreditation or institutional standards. Assist students with their data entry into EMS software. ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE FOR RIGHT FIT High school diploma or equivalent. Certified Paramedic or EMT in good standing depending on which lab you are working in. Minimum 3 years of field experience (ambulance, hospital). May be reduced by the instructor of record. Strong understanding of paramedic practice standards and regulations. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented. Ability to work collaboratively with instructors and students. Strong commitment to student learning and professional development. Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (e.g., lab supplies). Manual dexterity to handle small equipment and tools safely.

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma and a valid Paramedic or EMT certification with at least 3 years of field experience. Candidates must possess strong communication skills and the physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
