About the role

The teacher is responsible for managing a 2nd grade classroom and delivering rigorous, engaging lessons that meet grade-level standards. They must design nature-based and project-based learning experiences while fostering a supportive environment for diverse students.

Description Students at KTEC will earn certifications that align with competencies identified by industry. This model prepares students for post-secondary education, as well as being workforce ready. Students will be empowered to develop a strong sense of character, understand how to function collectively within society and be career and future focused

The teacher is essential in managing classrooms so that students can thrive academically, socially, emotionally and behaviorally.

Achieving academic excellence requires the teacher to provide rigorous and engaging lessons that meet grade level standards, differentiate to meet the needs of a diverse group of students and build a classroom environment where all students feel accepted and challenged.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Demonstrate commitment to and ownership of creating a classroom environment and culture that aligns with the mission, vision, and values of KTEC.

Seek and use feedback to ensure personal growth, continuous improvement, and innovation.

Utilize active listening, assume best intentions, and take other perspectives.

Serve as an active member of the assigned professional learning community.

Perform all aspects of classroom management, preparation, and implementation of current teaching strategies.

Great interpersonal communication skills are a must.

Organize and participate in special activities for students.

Design, deliver, and assess nature-based, inquiry-based, and project-based learning; effectively integrate content standards.

Participate in regular staff meetings.

Attend appropriate conferences, workshops, and in-services including the Summer Institute professional development for school staff; participate in appropriate professional development as required by the DPI.

Communicate with parents using a variety of methods as needed.

Guide placement procedures and participate in placement meetings, as assigned, for newly referred students.

Participate in selecting curriculum, equipment, classroom supplies, and other materials.

Requirements

Experience, Education and Licensure: Solid educational background including a bachelor’s degree in education. A current and appropriate Teaching License issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Evidence of competencies in classroom management, learning strategies, individual and group management, curriculum development, and program evaluation. Required Skills and Abilities: Model the core values of the school. Demonstrate a strong desire to collaborate with industry-connected, project-based learning, and provide a student-centered education. A growth mindset and ability to reflect and vary instructional delivery model. Strong belief that an inclusive learning environment offers a more productive and personalized way of educating all students. Ability to deliver instruction incorporating workshops, immersion, hands-on experiences, and traditional delivery to ensure that all individual student needs are met in accordance with preferred mode of instruction. The ability to work effectively with groups and individuals. Demonstrate skill in organizing ideas and presenting them with clarity and conciseness. Creative and imaginative approach to problem-solving and demonstrated ability to think outside of the box. Experience integrating technology into instruction. Self-starter and a well-developed ability to set and meet goals and outcomes. Knowledge of competency-based learning WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical Demands

? Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. ? Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computers and/or related equipment
