Simply Innovative Therapies is seeking a caring, dependable, and motivated Special Education Aide to provide one-to-one support to a student in a school setting.
The aide will assist the student throughout the school day with academic activities, classroom routines, transitions, communication, social participation, and the development of greater independence.
The Special Education Aide will work closely with teachers, related service providers, school staff, and supervisors to help the student participate successfully in the educational environment.
The ideal candidate is patient, professional, and passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs.
Schedule The position is available Monday through Friday September-June.
Full-day schedule: 7:30 a.m.–4:15 p.m.
Part-day options: Morning: 7:30 a.m.–11:45 a.m.
11:45 a.m.–4:15 p.m. Candidates may apply for the full-day position or one of the part-day shifts.
Provide individualized one-to-one support to an assigned student. Assist the student with classroom activities, assignments, and educational routines. Support the student during transitions between classrooms and school activities. Encourage communication, social interaction, participation, and independence. Help the student remain organized and prepared throughout the school day. Reinforce skills taught by teachers and related service providers. Assist with lunch, recess, specials, and other school activities as needed. Follow the student’s Individualized Education Program and other educational support plans. Provide redirection and behavioral support when needed. Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. Collect basic information or documentation regarding the student’s participation and progress, as directed. Communicate professionally with teachers, supervisors, and other members of the student’s educational team. Maintain student confidentiality and professional boundaries. Participate in required training, supervision, and team meetings.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience working with children is required. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred. Ability to work consistently Monday through Friday according to the selected schedule. Patient, dependable, professional, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow educational plans and instructions provided by teachers and supervisors. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to complete required background checks, fingerprinting, and school clearances. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and remain active throughout the school day. Teacher assistant or paraprofessional experience, relevant college coursework, or experience in special education is a plus.
