Position Summary/Overview: The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Extended Day Program as an Extended Day Program Assistant. We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the school’s mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of intercultural fluency. We are building a team in which diversity of experiences, backgrounds, and talents are valued in order to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff and families. The Extended Day Program Assistant reports to the Extended Day Program Manager and works in support of the school’s after school program, serving K-8th grade students, while also supporting colleagues, faculty, staff, and outside vendors. While other duties may be assigned, a qualified candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities and tasks listed below: · Supervise activities for grades K-5, while sometimes supervising grades 6-8 · Lead after school activities that include, but are not limited to the following: inside art and science activities, outside sports and free play activities, and gym sports and games · Create an inclusive environment for students by being open and welcoming, building strong relationships with students and families, and helping students resolve differences · Prepare for student snack service · Collaborate with the Extended Day Program team regarding student programming, daily preparations, and vendor oversight Experience and Professional Competencies: · A high school diploma or GED is required · Experience supervising school-age children required, with one or more years preferred · Training in education, childhood development or related field is preferred Successful candidates will: A philosophy that aligns with the school’s mission and values – please review the school’s mission and values on our website (www.bush.edu) The ability to be patient and positive and find joy in the journey of promoting a lifelong love of learning An ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with others, including colleagues, faculty, staff, students and families in order to maintain positive and professional relationships A commitment to being dependable to the team, arriving on time to the shift, and being flexible and engaged with the daily student programming A commitment to completing work in a timely and thorough manner while being conscientious about assignments and expectations A willingness to participate in professional growth/development opportunities Have proficient skills in the use of technology: including, but not limited to, Microsoft Suite, Google Drive, and Outlook Additional Requirements: · Have a current Adult and Children CPR, First Aid and AED Certification (or receive one soon after hire date) · Meet the school’s standards when completing two separate background screenings Compensation/Benefit Information for this position: ·
